Emphasising engagement, encouragement and stretching expectations, our Brilliant Tutoring Programme courses support pupils’ learning in core curriculum subjects.

Brilliant Tutoring Programme Courses for 2022-23

In 2022-23 we have tuition courses available in:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

Within each course there are 5 modules. Lead Teachers will liaise with tutors to select 3 modules out of the 5 for specific groups to focus on over the 15-hour tutoring block.

Courses have been designed in collaboration with our partners to stretch and challenge pupils, especially mid-high attainers, to catch up.

Tutors will be able to re-engage and rebuild pupils’ confidence in core subjects and inspire them through their passion for their subject area.

Please note that examples of modules from the courses below are taken from 2021-22 and may be adjusted for 2022-23. For an insight into the 2022-23 module list, enquire here.

English Language and Literature

Our English language and literature course for KS3 and KS4 aims to develop and stretch pupils’ critical thinking, analysis, and creative writing skills. The English course is designed to fit the requirements of every examination board.

Examples of modules include:

  • Shakespearean Context: How does knowledge of Shakespeare’s England and the Globe inform our understanding of his plays?
  • Reading and understanding unseen extracts: Exploring approaches and lines of analysis to take when reading unseen fiction.
  • Transactional writing: Exploring form, audience and purpose, approaches to structure and language, redrafting and editing your work.

I attended my first lesson and I'm excited to carry on the course. My tutor is really friendly. I hope my English will improve as I found the lesson very helpful and I am satisfied with all the homework, assessments and teaching.

The Brilliant Tutoring Programme Maths course is designed to develop and challenge pupils’ ability in core maths topics. The KS3 Maths course aims to develop pupils’ fluency so that they are confident in approaching KS4 content. Examples from the module list include:

  • Indices and simple surds (including standard form, negative and fractional indices)
  • Ratio problems (mixed with fractions, decimals, and percentages)
  • Angle problems and proof

The KS4 Maths course offers module content which strengthens and challenge pupils’ knowledge. The course places emphasis on assessment style questions. Examples include:

  • Algebra
  • Data and Probability
  • Geometry & Measurement

Group 1 is blasting ahead. We were able to spend time going through some more complex topics looking harder at the underlying mathematics and solving real world problems. Most of this group should be thinking about doing Maths A level or even degree level Maths.
