We are delighted to be partnering with Bloomsbury’s Study Skills imprint to support our student success programme, Join the Dots.
Completely free for schools, colleges and students across the UK, Join the Dots works with universities to provide bespoke support for less advantaged students during the transition to higher education. Bloomsbury will provide relevant Study Skills titles to students, schools and PhD Coaches, as well as drawing on their expertise to deliver annual webinars for sixth form students taking part in the programme.
Helen Caunce, Senior Publisher at Bloomsbury Study Skills says: “Our mission is to empower students to achieve their goals at university and beyond. We know this can be especially challenging for those from less advantaged backgrounds, which is why we’re thrilled to be partnering with The Brilliant Club, a charity that shares our values and purpose to make university – even the most competitive – accessible to every student, regardless of where they come from.”
Susie Whigham, Interim CEO at The Brilliant Club adds: “Disadvantage doesn’t disappear when you walk through the doors of a university. Join the Dots exists to prepare students for the life-changing experience of higher education, and to support academic skills and building a sense of belonging during the crucial first terms at university. We are delighted to be working with Bloomsbury and their Study Skills team. Their expertise and their resources will offer incredibly valuable information to the young people we work with.”
The partnership will commence with a webinar on Thursday 13th March entitled ‘Mastering Study Skills for University’. The event will be led by Professor Lucinda Becker, author of numerous Study Skills titles including How to Manage your Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Degree, Presentation Skills for Students and 14 Days to Exam Success. The webinar is free for Year 12 and 13 students looking to learn key strategies for learning more effectively at university. To take part, schools or individuals should sign up to the Join the Dots programme.
Bloomsbury’s Study Skills books and digital resources support students in developing essential skills and empower them to achieve their goals. The range spans the crucial academic skills as well as personal development and student wellbeing, with bestselling titles including The Study Skills Handbook, Cite Them Right and How to Write Better Essays.
