Thank you for applying to the RIS programme. You’re on your way to joining a national movement of researchers entering the classroom to teach and inspire the next generation of researchers. We’ve emailed you a record of your application and the answers you submitted to the competency questions – please check your email and, if necessary, your spam/junk filters for this.
There will be a short wait while we assess your application and arrange an interview – we’ll contact you regularly to keep you up to date. You can use this time to build up your knowledge of the programme and what it’s like to be a teacher in the following ways:
If you weren’t educated in the UK, or haven’t spent time in a school for a long time, you can read our handy guide to the English education system, as well as checking out the national curriculum for your subject. The curriculum will give you a good overview of which topics in your subject are covered and when.
One of the best ways to get a feel for the teaching profession is to talk to teachers and, where possible, spend some time in a school. There are a number of ways you can arrange this – for more information, visit our programme overview page.
If you have any questions about your application, including any of the suggested activities above, please get in touch with us.
