Multi-Academy
Trusts

Support your schools to provide an inspiring, attainment raising university experience, embedding a culture of academic excellence and broadening the horizons of pupils across your Trust.

The Scholars Programme inspires a love of learning in students aged 8-18. It’s proven to raise attainment, provides practical experience of higher education and helps develop the skills young people need to succeed at university and in their careers.

We can work with your Multi-Academy Trust to support the specific needs of your pupils, providing a tailored provision based on your strategic priorities.

Our programmes can help develop a collective culture of learning and aspiration for pupils across your trust, especially those underrepresented at the most competitive universities.

Why partner with us?

  • Recent research shows that students who did The Scholars Programme in Year 7, 8, 9 or 10 are more likely to achieve a 9-5 in maths and English than students who scored similarly at Key Stage 2 within their schools.
  • Year 12 programme graduates are statistically significantly more likely to apply to a competitive university than students from similar backgrounds, and therefore progress to these universities at a higher rate.
  • Primary school scholars develop key academic skills, including critical thinking, communication and independent learning, ideal for their transition to secondary school and embedding a culture of academic excellence from a young age.
  • The programme has been recognised by the Office for Students as effective practice in their recent attainment-raising toolkit. The programme’s impact can be articulated to meet statutory regulations for Pupil Premium, Gatsby Benchmarks and Ofsted.

What we offer Multi-Academy Trusts

The Brilliant Club supports Multi-Academy Trusts with a bespoke provision based on your specific pupils and tailored to support your strategic goals. Our Trust partners can access a range of additional resources for students and teachers at no extra cost, including:

  • Termly trust-level impact reports (see an example here)
  • Opportunities to celebrate the achievements of your pupils through trust graduation ceremonies and good news stories to share with your communities
  • Individualised support and regular communications from The Brilliant Club’s Strategic Partnerships Lead
  • Full access to our university preparation and transition programme, Join the Dots, which provides Key Stage 5 students with access to webinars and resources to support the journey to university and in the first year of their degree.

If you have an opportunity to have your Year 12s take part in the Scholars Programme – seize it with both hands! Our students got taken out of their academic comfort zones and were challenged in a way that saw them finish the programme not only with improved skills and knowledge, but with improved self-belief. It is a fantastic experience for young people.

The standard of PhD researchers who come and work with our children, the nature of the topics the children engage in, I think it would be a missing piece in our school if it wasn’t there… for myself and a lot of the staff, it reconnects us with academia, and that thrill of new learning that we had at university. We keep coming back to The Brilliant Club and it embeds that in part of our school culture, and I think it’s now an expectation of our students and of our parents, that this is part of a rite of passage for our students.
