At The Brilliant Club, we are proud to be an award-winning charity, recognised as one of The Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profits to Work For. We are committed to addressing educational inequality by supporting students from underrepresented backgrounds to access the most competitive universities and succeed when they get there.

We know that to achieve our mission, we need a team that is not only skilled and driven, but also deeply aligned with our values and purpose. We are always keen to hear from individuals who are passionate about educational equity, thrive in a mission-led environment, and want to be part of a charity making a real and lasting impact.

Our organisational values guide everything we do:

  1. We get to a solution.
  2. We seek and act on the best data available.
  3. We understand that little things go a long way.

We believe that our team and culture are the most important factors in our success. We work hard to create an environment where people feel supported, challenged and inspired. You can read more about what it’s like to work and progress at The Brilliant Club, and hear directly from colleagues through our career stories.

We also know that we do our best work when our team reflects the communities we serve. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. We warmly welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences. We are especially committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the communities we work with, and we recognise the value that different perspectives bring. We are continually working to broaden representation across all areas of the organisation. Learn more about our work on equality, diversity and inclusion here.

Our Approach to Inclusive and Fair Recruitment

At The Brilliant Club, we are committed to making our recruitment process fair, transparent and inclusive. As part of our equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) work, we want all candidates to feel confident and informed when applying for a role with us.

To reduce bias and increase fairness, we presently use Applied, a recruitment platform designed to ensure skills-based, anonymised shortlisting and equitable assessment.

How Our Recruitment Process Works

Anonymous Applications and Skills-Based Shortlisting

  • While CVs are submitted, our hiring managers do not see names or other personal information.
  • Structured application questions help us assess the key skills and experience needed for the role.
  • Each response is scored independently by at least two team members to ensure consistency and fairness.

Structured Interviews with a Fair and Transparent Approach
If shortlisted, applicants typically take part in two interview rounds:

  • All interview panels include at least two panellists, one of whom is from a different team.
  • Questions are scored using a clear matrix to ensure consistency.
  • For Coordinator-level roles, we provide interview questions in advance to help candidates prepare.
  • Assessments may include:
    • Scenario-based questions linked to our organisational values.
    • Motivation and mission-alignment questions.
    • Competency-based questions focused on specific role requirements.
    • Role-relevant tasks or exercises, where appropriate.

Accessibility and Support for All Candidates
We are committed to making our process as accessible as possible:

  • We welcome requests for reasonable adjustments at any stage.
  • We are neurodiversity-aware and open to conversations about individual support needs.
  • All interviews are conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams.

Our Commitment to Fair Hiring and Continuous Improvement

We take positive action where appropriate and actively encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds. We track and analyse our recruitment data to understand how different groups progress through our process. This data is reviewed regularly by senior leaders and trustees to ensure accountability and drive improvement.

We believe that diversity makes us stronger. It enriches our organisation, enhances our thinking, and strengthens our ability to serve the students and communities we work with.
